Lewis Hamilton has opened up about his struggles after finishing a disappointing 12th place in his first practice session (FP1) for Ferrari at the Australian Grand Prix.
The seven-time F1 world champion, who recently made the sensational switch from Mercedes to Ferrari, was visibly frustrated, ending the session over eight-tenths behind Lando Norris and 0.6 seconds off his teammate Charles Leclerc, who secured third place.
During FP1, Hamilton was heard complaining over the team radio about his car’s handling, saying: “I am struggling to turn the car.”
Despite the rocky start, Hamilton showed slight improvement in FP2, finishing fifth but still trailing Leclerc. It’s clear the British driver is still adapting to his new car and team setup.
F1 commentator Martin Brundle weighed in on Hamilton’s performance, suggesting the Ferrari star may be feeling the pressure: “I think he will be a bit frustrated with that first session. He looked very good early on. It depends if he had some issues — we will find out later.”
With one more practice session left before qualifying, Hamilton remains focused on fine-tuning his Ferrari and closing the gap. All eyes will be on him as he looks to bounce back and prove his championship pedigree in red.
Can Hamilton overcome these early setbacks and push Ferrari to the front of the grid? The battle is just beginning.
