At 17m2 (182ft2) this house may be tiny, but for owner Stef it’s a huge step onto the housing ladder! Steph was attracted to the idea of living in a tiny house as she was drawn to their simplicity, minimalism and a home which could allow her to focus on other things in life, while also being closer to nature and living a life with a smaller environmental footprint.
Auckland city is notoriously a very expensive place to live. With the average house price at around 1 million dollars, compared with the average income of only $75,000 per year and rent prices through the roof, many young Aucklanders have given up on the idea that they will ever be able to own their own home. Thankfully, Stef decided to look into alternative options which would enable her to make a start into the housing market. Initially, she was planning on building a container home, however when her 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥hood friend who was building a tiny house decided to move overseas and sell her home, Stef jumped at the opportunity to take over the project and make it her own.
Her beautiful house is wonderfully designed. Open and spacious with a huge feature staircase to access the dual loft design, this tiny house has absolutely everything that Stef needs. She has also found a fantastic parking spot for her home, close to the beach and with sea views. A large deck has been added onto the home to provide additional outdoor living space and which capitalises on the homes views.
