The log cabin is just 10 minutes away from historic Sylva and Dillsboro with all of its famous shopping, restaurants, coffee shops, and breweries, 25 minutes to Cherokee Casino, and one hour to shopping in Asheville or to Gatlinburg Tennessee attractions. The owners chose 1789 to commemorate the year North Carolina became a State. The log cabin building has that rustic, historic feeling to it with the chinking log house construction, yet it comes with all the modern amenities so you feel right at home.
The North Carolina side of the Great Smoky Mountains offers a more scenic and less touristy vacation experience for families and friends to escape for some fresh mountain air, stunning mountain views, and an opportunity to relax and recharge. The cabin has 2 (possibly 3) parking spots in front of the cabin. The drive up to the cabin includes a 3-minute drive on a gravel road. While it’s not a difficult drive, the owners do recommend AWD or 4WD for comfort and safety.
During your vacation stay in Sylvia, you might hit the trail. There’s one trail in town that’s fun to explore even after the sun sets and that is the Jackson County Ale Trail. It has been called one of the Top 10 American Brewery Tours, and Sylva’s booming brewing scene is where it all begins. Most of these breweries host live music and special events.
