The 4 Turkish Drones in Service with Pakistan (Explained)

In a dramatic shift in military dynamics, Pakistan has rapidly integrated advanced Turkish drone technology into its armed forces, marking a significant evolution in aerial combat capabilities. As of 2025, Pakistan stands as a key user of Turkish unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), particularly in surveillance, reconnaissance, and combat operations. This collaboration underscores the deepening defense ties between Turkey and Pakistan, with both nations benefiting from technology transfers and joint development initiatives.

Among the arsenal, the Bayraktar TB2 leads the charge. This medium-altitude long-endurance drone is equipped with cutting-edge electro-optical and infrared systems, allowing for precision strikes and comprehensive surveillance. With a maximum speed of 222 km/h and the ability to operate at altitudes of up to 25,000 ft, the TB2 has become a cornerstone of Pakistan’s military modernization since its deployment in 2022.

Additionally, the arrival of the Bayraktar Akinci marks a new era in Pakistan’s drone warfare capabilities. This advanced high-altitude UCAV, capable of carrying heavy payloads including cruise missiles and electronic warfare systems, enhances Pakistan’s long-range strike capabilities. The Akinci’s first batch was delivered in 2023, positioning Pakistan among a select group of nations equipped with this formidable platform.

The TEI Anka drone, developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries, adds further depth to Pakistan’s UAV fleet, featuring a robust combat data link and the ability to carry precision-guided munitions. Meanwhile, the tactical quadcopter, Assisgard Songar, represents a game-changer in close-quarters combat, capable of executing autonomous missions with lethal accuracy.

In a startling escalation, reports indicate that Pakistan has employed around 300 to 400 Songar drones in a coordinated swarm attack across multiple Indian border areas, showcasing the tactical advantages of low-cost drones in modern warfare. This unprecedented use of swarm tactics signals a pivotal moment in drone warfare, raising alarms about the evolving threats in regional security dynamics. As the landscape of conflict continues to change, the implications of these developments are profound and far-reaching.
