Manchester United have announced their provisional squad numbers ahead of the 2023-24 season, with new goalkeeper Andre Onana given the No 24 shirt.
As reported by the club’s official website, Mason Mount, meanwhile, will wear United’s famous No 7 shirt following his move from Chelsea. Iconic players to wear No 7 for United include George Best, Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Rasmus Hojlund, who joined from Atalanta for £72million, hasn’t yet been given a squad number as he works towards full fitness. The striker is nursing a back injury that will limit his involvement at the start of the season.
Onana has a strong connection with the number 24 having previously worn it while at Ajax and Inter Milan.
United state that these numbers are subject to change after the transfer window closes on September 1.

Donny van de Beek, who could also depart, keeps the No 34 shirt for now.
United get their new Premier League season underway on Monday night when they host Wolves.
