Wayne Rooney believes that every soccer player in the world would be jealous of soccer maestro Cristiano Ronaldo. However, he did name one soccer player who, thinks would not be jealous of his former Manchester United teammate.

Former English player Wayne Rooney was asked if he was jealous of his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo. Rooney replied with an obvious answer who wouldn’t be jealous of Ronaldo?

He revealed, “There’s probably not a football player on the planet that isn’t jealous of Cristiano. The career he’s had, the trophies he’s won, the money he’s earned … the six-pack, his body.”

Rooney named Lionel Messi as the only player in the world who would not be jealous of his rival Ronaldo. He went on, “I think every player, bar probably Lionel Messi, is jealous of Cristiano.”

The 37-year-old was asked this question after Ronaldo commented on an Instagram post that featured Rooney and Jamie Carragher. Ronaldo commented, “Two jealous.”

Wayne Rooney shared the dressing room with the former Real Madrid player after he later joined the Red Devils from Sporting. The pair was a force to be reckoned with during their days at Old Trafford and are considered two of the legends of the club.

Wayne Rooney defends MLS after Cristiano Ronaldo’s dig

Wayne Rooney is currently the manager of the MLS team D.C. United. The manager came into MLS’s defense after Ronaldo called the Saudi Pro League better than the MLS.

In an interview with The Athletic, the former soccer player shared, “This league has all the capabilities of becoming one of the biggest leagues. You can see how Saudi are trying to get certain players. So for MLS to get Messi was huge. How better to show it can compete with the Saudi riches than by getting Messi?”

When asked about the quality of the Major Soccer League, Rooney added, “The quality is very high in this league. It is probably a bit disrespected. You get agents phoning up and it’s almost an insult with some of the players you get offered — they’re nowhere near ready or good enough to play in the league.”

Cristiano Ronaldo joined the Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr earlier this year after he left his former club Manchester United. While on the other hand, his rival Lionel Messi opted to move to the MLS side Inter Miami despite being linked with his former club Barcelona and interests from Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal.
