The jungle has grown wilder—and so has Mowgli. The first concept trailer for The Jungle Book 2 has officially arrived, bringing back Neel Sethi as the brave human boy now caught between two worlds: man and nature.
Titled The Jungle Book 2: Shadow of the Wild, the sequel picks up years after the 2016 live-action hit. Mowgli, now a teenager, finds himself navigating a deepening rift between the animal kingdom and encroaching human civilization. When a mysterious predator begins hunting both man and beast, Mowgli must decide where he truly belongs—and what he’s willing to fight for.
Directed once again by Jon Favreau, the concept trailer opens with sweeping drone shots of a darker, more untamed jungle, accompanied by a haunting remix of “Bare Necessities”. A voiceover from Bagheera (Ben Kingsley) warns: “Peace has left the jungle. A shadow walks where no one dares to follow.”
Key moments teased:
-
A fiery encounter between Mowgli and a new villainous tiger, Rakta, voiced by Cillian Murphy
-
Baloo (voiced by Bill Murray) rallying a group of animals to defend the jungle
-
The ruins of an ancient city discovered beneath the forest, holding secrets of Mowgli’s heritage
-
An emotional reunion between Mowgli and a mysterious human woman claiming to be from his past
The concept trailer blends stunning CGI with real-world locations, once again raising the bar for immersive jungle filmmaking. The tone is more mature, the stakes higher, and the visual effects jaw-dropping.
Social media exploded with excitement, pushing hashtags like #JungleBook2, #ReturnOfMowgli, and #ShadowOfTheWild into trending topics. Fans praised Sethi’s more mature portrayal and the darker, mythic tone of the sequel.
The Jungle Book 2: Shadow of the Wild is expected to premiere in theaters worldwide in December 2026, with IMAX and 3D releases confirmed.
