Get ready for a wild mutation of action and horror—Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is taking on a whole new kind of role in the just-released first official trailer for The Insect (2025), an original sci-fi thriller that’s already being hailed as one of the boldest genre pivots of his career.

Directed by visionary filmmaker Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Annihilation), The Insect follows the story of Elias Quinn, a decorated ex-special forces soldier who becomes the subject of an experimental military bio-enhancement program.
