Set against the eerie backdrop of a crumbling Transylvanian castle and Victorian London plagued by shadows, the film is helmed by Robert Eggers, known for “The Witch” and “The Northman.” From the very first frame, viewers are drawn into an unsettling atmosphere of candlelit corridors, blood-soaked rituals, and unspoken dread.
The trailer begins with Keanu Reeves, cloaked in tattered velvet, whispering from a moonlit balcony: “I have crossed oceans of time to find you.” His chilling portrayal of Dracula merges romantic obsession with terrifying power, captivating viewers with his slow, deliberate menace.
Jenna Ortega, fresh from her breakout horror performances, plays a modernized Mina Harker — a fiercely intelligent, skeptical young woman who begins to question the reality around her. “What if evil isn’t just in stories?” she whispers in one heart-pounding scene, blood on her hands and fog swirling around her feet.
The two-minute trailer teases brutal encounters with vampire hunters, an atmospheric séance, and a haunting orchestral score composed by Hildur Guðnadóttir (Joker, Chernobyl). Fans of classic horror will be thrilled to spot homages to Bela Lugosi’s 1931 version, but with Eggers’ trademark surrealism and psychological depth.
“Dracula isn’t just a monster,” Reeves said in a press release. “He’s a man who’s cursed by love and haunted by time. This version is as much about identity and madness as it is about blood.”
Universal has confirmed a worldwide theatrical release for October 10, 2025, just in time for Halloween. With a cast that also includes Ralph Fiennes, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Bill Skarsgård, this reimagining of Dracula is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated horror events of the decade.
