EVIL DEAD: THE CURSED ONES (2025) – First Trailer Unleashes Chaos in Florence Pugh–Led Horror Reboot

Horror fans, brace yourselves. The first official trailer for Evil Dead: The Cursed Ones (2025) has dropped—and it’s bloodier, darker, and more emotionally terrifying than anything the franchise has seen before. Directed by The Babadook’s Jennifer Kent and produced by genre legends Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell, the film serves as a gritty reboot of the iconic Evil Dead series. But this time, the terror doesn’t begin in a cabin—it begins in the ancient ruins of a forgotten European forest, where an archaeological team stumbles upon the Necronomicon and awakens something that should have remained buried.

Florence Pugh stars as Dr. Eliza Carter, a brilliant but emotionally scarred linguist who unwittingly leads her team into a hellish nightmare. The trailer teases an onslaught of grotesque possessions, eerie chanting, and an overwhelming sense of doom, all set against a backdrop of ceaseless rain and haunting shadows.

“The cursed aren’t 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧… they’re awakened,” the trailer warns chillingly.

Joining Pugh is Barry Keoghan as a brooding historian with a hidden agenda, and Anya Taylor-Joy as a rogue nun who’s spent her life preparing for the return of the cursed ones. Longtime Evil Dead fans will also spot a surprise cameo from Bruce Campbell, playing a mysterious forest hermit with deep knowledge of the book of the dead.

The film’s score, composed by Hildur Guðnadóttir (Joker, Chernobyl), adds a deeply unsettling layer to the already nerve-wracking visuals.

According to early insiders, Evil Dead: The Cursed Ones has earned an R rating for “strong bloody violence, disturbing imagery, language, and demonic themes.” It’s set for a global release on December 31, 2025, making it this year’s must-watch Halloween event.

With a harrowing new story, visceral horror, and powerhouse performances, The Cursed Ones promises to revive the Evil Dead legacy for a whole new generation—and this time, no one is safe.
