In a harrowing tale that has gripped Dallas, the unsolved murder of 24-year-old Delisa Kelly continues to haunt a family and a community nine years after her brutal death. Delisa, two months pregnant, disappeared on March 7, 2014, after leaving her home to attend a friend’s funeral. Hours later, a chilling pocket dial to her sister revealed a desperate scene: Delisa’s terrified screams for help echoed in the background, pleading for her life against an unidentified attacker.

Despite the immediate alarm raised by her family, authorities failed to act with urgency. A 911 call from Delisa’s grandmother reported the distressing call, yet police deemed the situation non-critical, delaying any significant response until 48 hours had passed. This slow reaction would ultimately prove catastrophic. On March 14, Delisa’s lifeless body was discovered on the porch of an abandoned home, showing clear signs of a savage beating, with her injuries indicating a desperate struggle for survival.

The investigation that followed was plagued by missteps and a lack of leads. Surveillance footage finally surfaced showing Delisa entering a convenience store shortly before her disappearance, but police have yet to identify or pursue the individual she was seen with. The family has since advocated for justice and accountability, leading to the creation of the Kelly Law, designed to ensure police respond promptly to emergency calls.

As of now, the case remains cold, with no arrests made, and Delisa’s family is left grappling with profound grief and unanswered questions. The urgency for justice in Delisa Kelly’s case is palpable, and her story serves as a stark reminder of the need for systemic changes in how missing persons cases are handled. If you have any information regarding Delisa’s murder, please contact the Dallas Police Department immediately.
