In a recent candid video, TSF rapper Moneymade Nero shared his unsettling experience at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival, revealing that he felt targeted by law enforcement. The artist expressed his frustration over being approached by police while smoking a vape, suggesting that individuals who look like him are often unfairly scrutinized. “They locking up your be sagging and go to jail,” he remarked, indicating a belief that police are specifically targeting artists and others who fit a certain profile.

While Moneymade acknowledged that he enjoys his time in Austin and appreciates the opportunities SXSW presents, he expressed doubts about returning in the future. “This probably my last year,” he stated emphatically, citing concerns over police harassment as a significant factor in his decision. He noted a perception that the festival has diminished over the years, with fewer prominent artists participating.

Reflecting on the festival’s atmosphere, Moneymade pointed out that the excitement and energy seem to be waning. “Every year it’s getting smaller and smaller,” he lamented, suggesting that the allure of SXSW is fading. His comments resonate with concerns from various artists about the changing nature of the event, which has historically been a platform for artistic expression and networking.

Despite his frustrations, Moneymade highlighted the vibrant culture in Austin, encouraging his followers to visit local businesses and engage with the community. However, his experience serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by artists, particularly those from marginalized backgrounds, in navigating public spaces and events. As SXSW continues to evolve, the dialogue surrounding inclusivity and safety remains crucial for the festival’s future.
