Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson faced a harrowing experience during a recent flight when his plane was forced to make an emergency return to Hawaii. The actor and co-owner of the United Football League (UFFL) shared the details on social media, revealing that he was unable to attend the league’s opening day in Houston, Texas, on March 28 due to the incident.
In a heartfelt message on X, Johnson expressed his disappointment at missing the event but conveyed gratitude for the safe landing. “Super bummed I can’t be in Texas but so grateful we were able to land the plane safely,” he wrote, apologizing to fans, players, and staff while wishing them a successful second season.
In a subsequent video, Johnson recounted the tense moments aboard the flight. About 35 to 40 minutes into the journey, the pilot, Captain David, approached him and shared that there was a serious issue with the aircraft’s hydraulics system, which had begun to overheat. The pilot emphasized the necessity of returning to land instead of continuing over the ocean, ensuring Johnson that he would land safely back in Hawaii.
Reflecting on the experience, Johnson admitted that it prompted him to reassess what truly matters in life. “We’ve all experienced turbulence on airplanes… and you can’t help but think, ‘Is this how I check out?'” he shared, emphasizing the clarity such moments can bring. “Bottom line is, I’m grateful to be back on ground and back home in Hawaii.”
Despite the unsettling experience, Johnson’s focus remains on the exciting season ahead for the UFFL, as he encourages fans to enjoy the festivities and support their teams.
