While it’s unclear how Sweeney met Davino, the two were linked in late 2018 after he accompanied the actress to a handful of industry events.

They were first photographed together at Hulu’s 2018 Emmy Party that September. The businessman also joined the actress at the InStyle and Kate Spade party one month later.

Despite posing together in the early days of their relationship, the duo stopped attending public events as their relationship progressed.

Sweeney and Davino proved they were still going strong in October 2019 when they sat courtside at a New York Knicks game at Madison Square Garden.

“I have a place there,” she said of Chicago. “It’s like my getaway place.”

Sweeney gave a rare sneak peek into the pair’s relationship for Cosmopolitan’s “Love Issue” in February 2022.

Sweeney spoke about her desire to start a family with Davino during a July 2022 interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

“I want to have a family, I’ve always wanted to be a young mom, and I’m worried about how this industry puts stigmas on young women who have 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren and looks at them in a different light,” she told the outlet at the time.

The actress said she always “worried” about not having enough money to “support” her family if she didn’t work — part of the reason she has taken on so many projects over the last few years.

The Emmy nominee and co-star Glen Powell raised eyebrows with their flirty banter and close relationship, leading some fans to believe Sweeney had called it quits with the businessman.

However, she and Davino dispelled the rumors by going on several dinner dates amid the drama.

An insider told TMZ that the wedding, originally scheduled for May, was put on hiatus — with no new date in sight.

That same month, Sweeney reportedly checked herself into the Beverly Hills Hotel despite owning two properties in the Los Angeles area.

TMZ reported that she stayed at the swanky hotel solo for about a month without Davino, fueling split speculation.

Breakup rumors continued to swirl after eagle-eyed fans noticed that Sweeney deleted one of the few photos with Davino from her Instagram feed.

The photo, posted on Jan. 2, 2025, showed the couple packing on the PDA while surrounded by a group of friends.

Just days later, Us Weekly reported that Sweeney officially called off her engagement to Davino.

“Sydney and Jonathan have been having major issues but are not fully split,” the insider told the outlet.
