6 Beloved Family Matters Actors Who Have Passed Away

The beloved sitcom “Family Matters” has left an indelible mark on television history, thanks in large part to its memorable cast. Rosetta Lenoir portrayed Estelle “Mother” Winslow, the wise matriarch, first appearing in 1989 at the age of 73. She passed away in 2002 at 90, leaving a significant impact as a trailblazer for diversity in entertainment.

Ron Taylor, who played Jimmy the lounge singer, brought charisma to the series. He joined in 1990 at the age of 37 and died in 2002 at 49 due to a heart attack, remembered for his powerful stage presence.

Ellen Albertini Dato’s portrayal of Grandma Johnson added humor to the show. She was 72 when she first appeared in 1990 and lived a remarkable life until passing in 2015 at the age of 101.

Barry Jenner, who portrayed Lieutenant Myall, brought both authority and humor to the series. He joined the cast in 1992 at 50 and passed away in 2016 at 75 due to leukemia.
