Max Verstappen Reacts to FIA’s Shock Decision After Australian GP: Which Team Will Be Hit the Hardest?

Max Verstappen has spoken out about the FIA’s latest decision to tighten rear-wing flexibility tests starting from the Chinese Grand Prix, following evaluations from the Australian GP. The reigning champion did not hold back in expressing his opinion on the matter, suggesting that some teams could be severely impacted by the sudden rule change.

“It’s Not a Surprise” – Verstappen’s Take on the FIA’s Move

The FIA’s new regulations, aimed at reducing rear-wing flex, will force teams to comply with stricter 0.5mm deflection limits, with a temporary 0.25mm tolerance for the Shanghai event. While all cars passed the Melbourne tests, the FIA determined that further restrictions were necessary.

Verstappen, when asked about the FIA’s decision, responded: “It’s not a surprise anymore. Every time we get something working well, they change the rules. It’s frustrating, but we’ll adapt.”

His comments hint at frustration with continuous regulatory adjustments, especially after Red Bull’s dominant start to the season.

Which Teams Will Be Affected the Most?

McLaren was previously forced to adjust its rear-wing design after the Baku GP in 2024, and with these new changes, they might once again find themselves under the spotlight. Additionally, Aston Martin and Ferrari have been rumored to be utilizing flexible aero solutions, meaning they may need to make modifications before Shanghai.

Despite the changes, Verstappen remains confident: “We’ll have to see how much it affects us, but I believe in our team. If there’s something to fix, we’ll fix it.”

With just a few days before the Chinese Grand Prix, all eyes are on the teams scrambling to adjust to this unexpected FIA ruling. Will this impact Red Bull’s dominance, or will it shake up the entire grid? Shanghai will provide the answers.
