Max Verstappen has shared his thoughts after Lewis Hamilton revealed his involvement in pushing for a rule change at the Monaco Grand Prix, which will introduce two mandatory pit stops starting from the 2025 season.
Hamilton recently claimed credit for the change, saying, “I’m pretty sure that was my idea anyways. I’ve been mentioning the two-stop for years.” The seven-time world champion believes this adjustment will add excitement to the iconic race, even though he admits it won’t completely solve the issue of limited overtaking opportunities.
However, when asked about Hamilton’s influence on the rule change, Verstappen offered a measured response.
“It’s good that drivers have a voice and can suggest ideas,” Verstappen said. “But in the end, the rules should be made based on what’s best for the sport, not just because one driver thinks it’s a good idea.”
The Dutch driver emphasized the importance of a balanced approach, adding, “I hope decisions like these come from proper discussions with all teams and drivers, not just one opinion.”
As the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix edges closer, the debate over the new pit stop rule continues, with fans and drivers alike curious to see how this change will impact one of Formula 1’s most prestigious races.
