Manchester United Fans Outraged by Liverpool’s Champions League Win

Liverpool’s narrow 1-0 victory over PSG in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 has sparked outrage among Manchester United fans. Many believe that Arne Slot’s side was incredibly fortunate to leave the Parc des Princes with an advantage ahead of the return leg at Anfield.

Throughout the match, PSG dominated possession and created numerous dangerous opportunities, but Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker delivered a stellar performance with a series of crucial saves. The most controversial moment occurred when Ibrahima Konate clashed with PSG’s Barcola, yet escaped a red card. Adding to the frustration, the referee chose not to review the incident directly via VAR, relying solely on advice from the video assistant.

Despite being under immense pressure, Liverpool secured the decisive goal in the dying minutes thanks to Harvey Elliott. The young midfielder capitalized on a chaotic moment in PSG’s penalty area, slotting the ball home to give the English side a vital lead heading into the second leg.

Following the match, some Manchester United supporters voiced their displeasure over Liverpool’s win. They argued that luck played a significant role, particularly highlighting Konate’s escape from a sending-off and Alisson’s heroic display.

One Manchester United fan account, @DevildetailsMU, ranted: “Sabotage and robbery — Liverpool’s crime against football!” Interestingly, a Liverpool supporter responded with a touch of sarcasm: “Yes, indeed — the greatest act of sabotage and ball theft in Liverpool’s history.”

Another fan commented: “It’s crazy — Liverpool survive a horrible performance, win, and suddenly it’s labeled ‘the mark of a great team.’ If Forest played like this and won 1-0, we’d be hearing ‘luck eventually runs out’ — even from their own fans. Strange world.”

The discontent extended beyond fans. PSG head coach Luis Enrique also expressed frustration with the outcome. Speaking to BBC Sport, he remarked: “It’s hard to accept this result — we deserved to win. Liverpool’s best player was their goalkeeper. Sometimes football is unfair, but we won’t give up. The return leg at Anfield is our chance to set things right.”

Despite the controversy, Liverpool’s victory gives them a crucial edge ahead of the home leg. PSG, however, will undoubtedly come back stronger, promising a thrilling rematch in the upcoming clash.
