Max Verstappen, the four-time Formula One world champion, has expressed his excitement about becoming a father next year. The announcement came from Verstappen and his partner, Kelly Pet, who revealed they are expecting their first 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 together just before the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, marking a significant milestone in their lives.
This will be the couple’s first 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥, although Pet has a five-year-old daughter, Penelope, from her previous relationship with former F1 driver Daniil Kvyat. Verstappen has developed a close bond with Penelope over the past four years, which he believes has given him some preparation for fatherhood. “It’s super exciting, of course,” Verstappen shared during an appearance on the “Talking Blls” podcast. “Luckily, I did get a little bit of training with Penelope, seeing her grow up really for like four years, which has been also really, really nice.”
Despite his enthusiasm, Verstappen has made it clear that he does not want his future 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 to pursue a career in racing. Instead, he envisions a different path, suggesting that his 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 could contribute to the sport in innovative ways, such as designing cars. “I actually don’t want him or her to go into racing,” Verstappen remarked. “Maybe a different role in the team; maybe he or she can design future cars or whatever. You never know, right?”
As Verstappen prepares for this new chapter in his life, fans and followers eagerly anticipate how this will influence his racing career and personal life. The coming year promises to be transformative for the Dutch driver, blending the high-octane world of Formula One with the joys and challenges of parenthood.
