Brayden Schenn admitted starting fight with Nick Foligno at Winter Classic

Brayden Schenn revealed postgame that it was his decision to engage in the fight with Nick Foligno, stating he wanted to create a memorable

“I would have come back to the bench if (Foligno) said no,” Schenn explained (as per The Athletic).”“You look back on these moments in your career and why not, eh?” Schenn added. “You’re squaring off at Wrigley Field at center ice against a tough customer. You never know if you’re going to play in another Winter Classic, so get in a fight while you’re at it. You want the memory.”

Schenn’s eagerness to participate in the on-ice scuffle was fueled by the unique setting of the Winter Classic.

“This was an amazing experience for the fans and just for us, too,” Schenn said. “Having family and friends here to experience something like that at Wrigley Field, an amazing thing, and then winning on top of it.”
