The incident comes on the heels of a tragic event from last year when former hockey player Adam Johnson lost his life after a skate blade struck him during a game against the Sheffield Steelers.
Matt Petgrave, a player for the Steelers, cut Johnson’s neck with his skate, leading to severe injury. Johnson ultimately bled out and died in the hospital.
