The FIA has officially addressed recent rumors regarding potential foul play by Red Bull, following allegations that the team might have manipulated tire cooling methods to gain an edge in wet-weather conditions. Speculation had surfaced about Red Bull possibly storing liquid in wet-weather tires to control temperatures, a technique that, if true, could provide a performance advantage. However, after thorough investigations during the Brazilian Grand Prix, the FIA has stated there is “no evidence of extra moisture or cooling substances in the tires and wheel rims inspected.”
In a formal statement, an FIA representative remarked, “Our inspections have shown no indications of any irregularity in tire composition or storage of liquid within the wheels. We remain vigilant and will continue to ensure compliance with regulations across all teams.” The FIA’s response aims to put to rest theories circulating since the Singapore Grand Prix, where Lando Norris outpaced Max Verstappen with a decisive victory, fueling Red Bull’s suspicions about their rivals.
Meanwhile, former Haas team principal Guenther Steiner has emphasized that Verstappen’s competitors should study his impressive performance at the recent Brazilian GP to learn from his techniques. Speaking on the Red Flags podcast, Steiner commented, “Oh, yeah. Absolutely, absolutely. They [drivers] analyse everything, everything will be analysed: how did he do it? Because that is the way you learn it, how to get there yourself.”
With Verstappen’s rivals now looking to his onboards for insights, his approach at Interlagos has become a focal point for the grid. Despite the speculation, Verstappen’s driving has continued to stand out, underscoring his s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁 rather than any outside advantage.
