Red Bull has received some clear advice from former team boss Eddie Jordan. In the Formula For Success podcast, Jordan discussed who he thinks should be Max Verstappen ‘s new teammate next season.
Although Sergio Pérez signed a new multi-year deal with Red Bull ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix that would see him drive for the Austrian team until 2026, there is a lot of talk about the Mexican’s Formula 1 future.
It looks like Red Bull wants to go to sea with a new driver for Verstappen’s teammate next season. Perez has only scored a fraction of the number of points of teammate Verstappen this season and that has caused Red Bull to drop to third place in the constructors’ championship.
Jordan names perfect successor to Perez
It now seems only a matter of time before it is announced who will drive next season next to Verstappen at the Red Bull team. Jordan hopes that Red Bull will choose Visa Cash App RB driver Liam Lawson .
“The person who stood out for me, and I have to be honest with you, Lawson, is the real deal here. He drove with a lot of pressure and he knows how to handle himself. He didn’t have the car that Lewis (Hamilton) had, he doesn’t have the car that others have had, but he showed a level of competence that I was super impressed with. He’s ready to fly in 2025 ,” Jordan kicked off.
“Perez, how many chances has he had? Do you think he’ll be driving next year? Not a chance. Lovely, lovely, lovely boy – but we know you don’t win Grands Prix with lovely boys. But Lawson is the one, he’s part of the family, part of the make-up and he’s the person who should be in that car ,” said the former team boss.
