Connor McDavid is on the verge of making Edmonton Oilers history. The superstar center is just three game-winning goals away from breaking Glenn Anderson’s franchise record of 72 game-winning goals.

McDavid currently sits at 70 career game-winners after scoring his first goal of the 2024-25 season on Thursday night in the Oilers’ 4-2 road victory against the Nashville Predators.

It’s another milestone in sight for the 27-year-old. McDavid has scored 336 goals in 650 games since the 2015-16 season.

Glen Anderson is a Hockey Hall of Famer renowned for his performance with Edmonton in the 1980s and 90s. He ended his time as an Oiler with a total of 72 winning goals under his belt.

McDavid is now closely trailing behind him following his goal against Nashville with Leon Draisaitl next on the list with 62 game-winners. Wayne Gretzky, the greatest Oiler ever, is fourth on the list with 61.

McDavid will get his next shot on Saturday night when Edmonton visits the Dallas Stars.

Connor McDavid opens up about his fear of ketchup after wife Lauren Kyle’s revelation

Connor McDavid recently addressed his odd phobia of ketchup after his wife Lauren Kyle publicly disclosed it in the new Amazon Prime documentary series “FACEOFF: Inside the NHL.”

In the show, Kyle reveals that McDavid is so afraid of ketchup that she has to sneak it during meals.

“Connor is afraid of ketchup,” Kyle said. “So Sheridan, he always, like, sneakily brings it over to me, because he knows I like it.”

During an interview on “NHL on ESPN” with P.K. Subban, McDavid opened up about this peculiar quirk that he’s had since 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥hood.

“The ketchup thing is a funny thing. My brother and I, we both grew up that way. It’s more of a phobia,” McDavid said.”I wish I could tell you more about it. I don’t know why it is that way, it’s just something that, you know, never got into with, you know, my brother and I, and it’s kind of stuck as more of a phobia,” he added.

Subban was quick to reassure McDavid that he can avoid ketchup as long as he keeps up his stellar production on the ice.

“If it’s a phobia, I think I share on behalf of the whole NHL, there’s about 700 players that would like the same phobia that you have, because if it’s gonna amount in 175 points, 200 points a season, I’ll take it. So, you don’t have to eat ketchup, it’s all good Connor,” Subban said.

Last season, Connor McDavid had 132 points through 32 goals and 100 assists. He also added 42 points in the playoffs through eight goals and 34 assists as the Oilers fell at the final hurdle, losing in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final to the Florida Panthers.
