Max Verstappen, the reigning champion, emphasized safety concerns: “The safety of everyone involved should always be the top priority. While it’s an honor to be part of the ceremony, we need to ensure the event doesn’t put anyone at risk.”

Meanwhile, Lando Norris highlighted the importance of celebrating the sport’s achievements: “The FIA Awards are a special moment for all of us. It’s where we celebrate the hard work, but right now, we’re all watching the situation in Rwanda closely. Hopefully, everything works out safely.”
