In response, Bronny sent a clear message during Lakers Media Day, showing that he’s ready to use the negativity as motivation to prove himself. “I just continue to try and be myself every day,” Bronny said. “Doing the things I love since I’ve been a kid and just trying to keep that routine up in being myself. But also, taking the time to tune out all the noise and tune out all the people that don’t think I should be here.”
For Bronny, the path forward is all about growth and perseverance. He acknowledges the criticism, but rather than let it deter him, he plans to use it as fuel to work harder. “I feel like it’s just made me into a stronger individual,” he stated. “Taking all that fuel, that criticism, and backlash that people have given me and turning it into something that can drive me to get in the gym every day. That’s why I’ve been getting better every summer.”

He knows that his role on the team may evolve throughout the season, but he’s clear about the type of player he wants to be. “I can definitely say that I’m a smart player,” Bronny explained. “I’m not going to go in there lost and looking like I don’t know what I’m doing. Being hard-nosed on the defensive end and playing my role in the offense while being able to create a shot for myself.”
As Bronny prepares for the upcoming season, whether in the G League with the South Bay Lakers or learning from veterans on the Lakers’ roster, he is determined to remain true to himself and continue growing as a player. For Bronny, this season is about silencing doubters through his performance and staying focused on his development, both on and off the court.
