Conor McGregor comes clean about Anthony Joshua post-fight incident

Conor McGregor went viral when he gave Anthony Joshua a drink from a can of the Irishman’s stout after the boxer’s win over Robert Helenius

Conor McGregor has insisted he did not force Anthony Joshua to drink from a can of the Irishman’s stout last year.

McGregor was ringside a year ago when Joshua destroyed replacement opponent Robert Helenius to continue his comeback from back-to-back defeats by Oleksandr Usyk. The former UFC champion came face to face with Joshua after the final bell and held a can of his stout to the Brit’s lips as he took a swig.

McGregor has now taken to social media to insist Joshua wanted a drink. “One year ago today, Forged Irish Stout busy year! Also for the record I didn’t make Joshua do anything,” he wrote. “He exited the ring post his amazing victory and came straight to me and said “where is my Forged!” I gave him mine. It was the first time that had happened at a fight.

“It’s seriously tasty and incredibly refreshing you won’t get better! I don’t blame him one bit I am sure he enjoyed it thoroughly after the fight. So much so he ordered multiple keg loads of it to his local pub! Top man, top fighter, top Stout, Forged Irish Stout! Our partnership with Matchroom Boxing has been so good and with their fighters also! “This is the fighters stout, Forged Irish Stout! For the working man and woman!

“What a year it has been for Forged I am very proud and grateful and extremely driven being at the helm of this quality product. It’s quality, point blank. BEST ON THE MARKET BY FAR! “We have some mega announcements coming soon for you all, stay tuned! FORGED ARMY!”

Since beating Helenius, Joshua has extended his winning streak to four fights, stopping Otto Wallin last year before knocking out former UFC champion Francis Ngannou in March. He will challenge world champion Daniel Dubois in September as the Londoner attempts to become a three-time ruler of the heavyweight division.

McGregor, meanwhile, is waiting for a date for his rescheduled bout with Michael Chandler which was due to take place in June before the Irishman pulled out with a broken toe. McGregor is desperate to fight on December 14 in Las Vegas but UFC CEO Dana White claims the Dubliner will not fight until 2025.
