In December 2023, Jon Rahm signed with LIV Golf in a deal reported to be worth $600m. This move came as a surprise because before signing the deal, he had said his heart was with the PGA Tour. While Rahm made a U-turn on his statement and joined LIV, reports have claimed recently that he is not happy with the Saudi-backed tour.
A recent Golf Digest article claimed Rahm would be willing to return his money to LIV Golf for a chance to compete on the PGA Tour again. After the report came out, LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman said it was untrue. Adding to the same, Tiger Woods’ ex-coach Hank Haney said golfers regret not taking an offer from LIV Golf.
In a post on social media platform X (fka Twitter), Haney said:
“Pro golf is in such a state of flux that the only regret some players have is not having taken the offers from LIV when they had the chance. Classic case of you snooze you lose.”

In what is his debut season, Jon Rahm has already managed to impress LIV Golf fans with his performances. This season, Rahm has registered several top 10 and top 5 finishes. However, his biggest achievement in 2024 so far has been his victory at LIV Golf UK.

When Jon Rahm made a U-turn on his statement and joined LIV Golf, it caused quite a stir on social media. However, Rahm, who was well aware of what he said about the PGA Tour in 2022, cited money and the agreement between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf as reasons behind making the switch.
Hence, when reports of him being unhappy at LIV Golf went viral, several golf fans were shocked. Greg Norman was quick to rubbish the claims, and Rahm also had his say. When play at LIV Golf Greenbrier was interrupted due to rain, Rahm was shown a tweet that mentioned he was unhappy at the Saudi-backed tour.
Reacting to the same, Jon Rahm said:
“Yea thats why I can’t stop smiling out here. They just make s**t up. Couldn’t be further from the truth.”

Based on his recent performances, it would be hard to say that Rahm is unhappy at LIV Golf. After winning at LIV Golf UK last month, he is currently in a very good position to win LIV Golf Greenbrier. After two rounds, Rahm scored 14-under to lead the event.
