The Los Angeles Lakers have officially announced the signing of guard Quincy Olivari and center Kylor Kelley. Although the specific terms of the deals remain undisclosed, reports suggest both are on Exhibit 10 contracts. This means Olivari and Kelley will join the Lakers’ training camp and preseason roster. Should they not make the final team cut, the Exhibit 10 deal allows them to play for the South Bay Lakers, the organization’s G League affiliate, for the 2024-25 season.
Quincy Olivari, initially signed as an undrafted free agent from Xavier, expressed his excitement about the opportunity. “I’m thrilled to be a part of the Lakers’ organization,” Olivari said. “This is a dream come true, and I’m ready to work hard, learn, and contribute in any way I can.”
Olivari’s performance in five Summer League games showcased his potential, averaging 5.8 points and 1.8 rebounds per game, despite the limited playtime. Before joining Xavier for his final year of eligibility, Olivari spent four years at Rice, where he demonstrated his ability by averaging 19.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. His shooting prowess, with a 40.9% success rate from the 3-point range on 7.6 attempts per game, highlights his potential to stretch the floor at the NBA level.
Meanwhile, Kylor Kelley, who went undrafted in 2020 after his tenure at Oregon State, has been working his way through the G League. “Being part of the Lakers is an incredible opportunity,” Kelley commented. “I’m focused on showcasing my s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s and making the most of this chance to contribute to the team’s success.”
Kelley’s journey in the G League included stints with the Austin Spurs, Raptors 905, and most recently, the Maine Celtics. In his last season with Maine, Kelley averaged 8.4 points and 2.9 blocks per game, shooting an impressive 68.6% from the field. His ability to protect the rim and dominate the paint makes him a valuable addition to the Lakers’ roster, which can benefit from added size and defensive presence.
The Lakers are set to kick off the regular season by hosting the Minnesota Timberwolves on NBA’s Opening Night. With Olivari and Kelley on board, the Lakers hope to break their opening-game losing streak since 2016 and start the season strong against a formidable Timberwolves lineup led by Anthony Edwards.
