Golf fans disagree with outrageous comment from Tiger Woods’ ex coach

A large number of golf fans have questioned the latest tweet by Tiger Woods‘ former long-time golf coach Hank Haney, who considers most of today’s best 3-woods are ‘virtually unhittable for 90% of golfers’.

Haney was Woods’ coach from 2004 to 2010, a stretch that saw him win six major titles.

The duo split a few months after revelations about Woods’ private life broke in 2009.

In 2012, Haney told of how he regretted how his relationship with Woods soured.

Last week, Haney even said he liked what he saw out of Woods’ swing ahead of The Open at Royal Troon.

But despite the positive comments, Woods, 48, went on to miss a third straight cut in the majors.

Last month, Haney hit out at the ‘Corrupt Golf Media’, as he calls it, by claiming nobody has discussed ‘how it’s easier than ever to win on the PGA Tour’ in 2024.

This week, Haney has been taking questions from golfers in a bid to help them with their games.

In one tweet, a golfer asked Haney about fairway woods.

TaylorMade Qi10 3-wood

A golfer tweeted: “Hank i need help convincing my dad who is 68. He just bought a new titleist 3W he cant hit and a 5W. He plays mid 90s DCIs with a 2 and 3i. He never makes solid contact and claims he cant hit a hybrid. Im trying to get him to trade the 3 wood for a 7W and add a 9W.”

Haney replied to put the 3-wood away: “Most of today’s 3 woods are virtually unhittable for 90% of the people who play golf, tell him I said to listen to you because you gave him good advice.”

Haney’s tweet has not gone down particularly well with a large number of golf fans.

Haney thinks 3-woods are unhittable for 90% of players

Many consider the best fairway woods of 2024 are much easier to hit than ever before with all the latest tech pumped into them by the world’s biggest and best manufacturers such as TaylorMade, Callaway, Cobra and PING.

Here’s a look at some responses to Haney’s tweet by golf fans:

Sorry disagree. If their crappy swing top’s the s*** out of a 3wd, why wouldn’t they top the s*** out of a 7wd too! All of sudden they have a world class swing, and can take a divot with the 7wd, just not the 3wd!?

I use 3w off the tee occasionally. Easier to control in certain situations

Absolute nonsense, Hank. They’re so much easier to hit today than ever before. Easy to launch and go much further.

I smash my 3W In a 10 percenter I guess. Put me in tour!! lol

Callaway Mavrik Max 3wood sings to the heavens.

This seems like an exaggeration Hank.

Nice, I can hit my 3 wood 200 yds so I’m in the 10% sweeeeeeet

Seems a very suspect stat although I have no contrary data. I generally hit my Cobra 3 wood well…
