A sequel to Amazon’s “Road House” is in the works and Jake Gyllenhaal will return as Dalton. Amazon hasn’t shared any more details yet, but announced the high-profile “Road House” sequel in its first upfront presentation to advertisers, and Amazon MGM Studio boss Jennifer Salke revealed the news. “As we saw this spring, the world went crazy over a little movie called ‘Road House,'” Salke said onstage at Pier 36 in New York City. “Nearly 8 million viewers around the world have watched ‘Road House’. We like to see these results like a 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦.”
“Road House” was written by Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry. The film, produced by Joel Silver, features a cast that includes Daniela Melchior, Billy Magnussen, Jessica Williams, Joaquim de Almeida, Conor McGregor and Lukas Gage, among others. According to Amazon MGM Studios, the first “Road House” film has attracted nearly 80 million viewers worldwide to date. Premiering on Prime Video on March 21, it set a record with more than 50 million viewers worldwide in its first two weekends, making it the studio’s most-watched film debut globally.
It’s important to mention that streaming viewership figures reported by platforms like Amazon come with several caveats. Amazon did not specify what is considered a “view” or how much of “Road House” a viewer must watch to be counted. Additionally, the “debut” figures were reported over two weekends instead of the traditional one, covering the first 10 days of availability instead of just the initial Friday-Sunday period.
