Seemingly over night, UConn basketball coach Dan Hurley became the frontrunner to be the Los Angeles Lakers’ next head coach. But as quickly as it started, it was over. On Monday, Hurley rejected the Lakers’ offer – six years, $70 million – to become their next head coach, and now the search continues.
But what is their next course of action? Do they come crawling back to JJ Redick, who had long been considered the frontrunner, before the Hurley news dropped? Do they look elsewhere, perhaps back at James Borrego, who has already had two in-person interviews in Hollywood? Or maybe there is someone else entirely who had been lurking in the shadows and is finally coming into the light.
