Vancouver Canucks forward J.T. Miller addressed rumors of a supposed feud with teammate Elias Pettersson during a media session on Sunday morning, firmly dismissing the speculation.

The speculation arose from former Canucks coach Bruce Boudreau’s recent remarks hinting at tension between the two stars during his time with the team, coupled with team captain Rick Tocchet’s cryptic comments about team dynamics on Saturday.

Miller blamed the media for the rumors, saying:

“You guys have created this thing. This isn’t a thing. Am I bothered? No, but you guys are just wasting your time. I don’t care, you guys want to talk about it, ask me all you want.”

He emphasized that he is unfazed by the chatter surrounding their relationship and even suggested that he and Pettersson could do an interview together to put the rumors to restrest.

“I can bring up Petey and we can do the interview together if that will make you guys happy. I’m not worried about any noise,” he said.

When asked about his relationship with Miller, Pettersson also denied any issues, asserting that the media is simply trying to create drama.

”It’s good. I don’t know why people try to make s**t up. Excuse my language, but that’s my response to it,” he said.

Former Canucks coach opens up about J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson’s relationship

Former Vancouver Canucks coach Bruce Boudreau recently weighed in on the alleged tension between J.T. Miller and Pettersson. During an appearance on TSN’s Overdrive, Boudreau acknowledged being aware of some friction between the two players before his tenure as head coach.

Boudreau said:

“The easy thing would be to say, ‘Yes, it is a problem.’ And I knew they had a little bit of a problem between them before I got there, but I thought that was all straightened out and everything. So I’m hoping it’s a coincidence.”

Boudreau also highlighted how Pettersson’s production soared when playing alongside J.T. Miller:

“When he was getting 100 points, (in the) year with me, he was playing the wing with Miller and Boesser, or he was playing the wing with Horvat. “So I think a lot of it has to do with who he’s playing with and how good the rate of a power play is going with him. I’m hoping that it’s not a situation,” Boudreau added.

Elias Pettersson, currently under an eight-year, $92.8 million contract, has racked up 26 points this season through eight goals and 18 assists. Meanwhile, J.T. Miller has tallied 20 points, recording six goals and 14 assists in 23 games.
