According to Screen Rant, Lionsgate is planning to produce the fifth installment of the blockbuster John Wick series. Interestingly, this announcement comes even before the release of the fourth film.
Lionsgate has disclosed that filming for John Wick 5 is scheduled to commence in 2021. This means both the fourth and fifth installments will start production next year, requiring the director and film crew to work diligently to ensure tight cohesion between the two films.
This new plan follows the postponement of John Wick 4’s production due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially slated to begin filming this year for a May 2021 release, the film had to be delayed by a year to ensure the safety of the cast and crew amidst the ongoing complexities of the pandemic.
While fans may be surprised by Keanu Reeves’s continuation as John Wick in the fifth installment, critics anticipate this move, especially given the positive reception of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum worldwide. For Reeves himself, he expressed a desire to continue portraying the character until audience interest wanes.
