Mission: Impossible 8, originally slated for release this summer, has been delayed due to the Hollywood strikes of 2023 and is now set to hit theaters in May 2025. The film, currently untitled, was initially part of the Dead Reckoning storyline but has since undergone a title change, although it’s unclear if this affects the plot.
Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt, joined by familiar faces like Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames) and Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg). However, Rebecca Ferguson’s Ilsa Faust won’t be returning after her character’s heroic demise in Mission: Impossible 7.
New additions to the cast include Hayley Atwell as Grace and the return of Vanessa Kirby’s Alanna Mitsopolis. Pom Klementieff’s Paris, presumed dead after being stabbed, will also make a comeback.
The plot centers around Ethan’s quest to destroy an all-powerful AI known as the “entity,” which can distort digital data and control the world. This leads him on a mission to find the Sevastopol sub, where the entity’s source code is stored, while facing off against the villainous Gabriel.
With production underway and filming ongoing, fans can anticipate another thrilling installment in the Mission: Impossible series, filled with espionage, action, and high-stakes missions.
