Where Cristiano Ronaldo’s team-mates are from last Real Madrid game, including close pal who had horror spell in Greece

CRISTIANO RONALDO waved goodbye to European football last year when he joined Al Nassr.

And although he is still impressing in the Saudi Pro League, Ronaldo spent his best days tearing up the European leagues.

Perhaps his best spell was with Real Madrid where the global superstar won four Champions League trophies and two LaLiga titles.

The Portuguese powerhouse played 438 games for Los Blancos scoring an unfathomable 450 goals and registering 131 assists.

But he had his final swan song with the Spanish giants in 2018 when he played his last game for the club in their 3-1 Champions League final win over Liverpool.

Ronaldo moved on to Juventus in the following summer after winning his career fifth Champions League and put his Madrid days behind him.

Some five years later and SunSport takes a look at where his teammates that day are now…

Keylor Navas

Navas was playing in between the sticks that day for Real Madrid and similarly to Ronaldo, he didn’t stick around for long.

The 36-year-old left the club in 2019 to join PSG, where he held their number one spot for three seasons before the arrival of Gianluigi Donnarumma.

After struggling for game time he was sent on loan to Nottingham Forest last season and since returning to Paris has warmed the bench of the French club,

Dani Carvajal

Carvajal still remains at the Santiago Bernabeu and has now been with the side for TEN YEARS.

The Spaniard has missed just two LaLiga games for Carlo Ancelotti’s side this season.

Raphael Varane

One of two players that day who now plies their trade in the red side of Manchester.

Varane joined Man Utd in 2021 and is struggling for form and game time under Erik ten Hag this term.

Sergio Ramos

Just like Keylor Navas, Ramos joined PSG in the summer of 2021 from Real Madrid.

Now 37-years-old, he has returned to his boyhood club Sevilla on a controversial free transfer as he heads into the twilight of his career.

Marcelo

After 15 years with Real Madrid, Marcelo left for Greek club Olympiacos in 2022 on a free transfer.

The move to the historic club was a nightmare with an injury riddled spell seeing him offloaded just five months and ten appearances later.

Now the 35-year-old has returned to his home country of Brazil where he plays for Fluminense.

Casemiro

The other man on the list who headed to the Theatre of Dreams in pursuit of pastures new.

A huge £60m transfer fee piled the pressure on the 31-year-old, but he had an exceptional first season with the Red Devils.

Now he, like the rest of the Man Utd team, is struggling to find his rhythm and has been in and out of the squad with a knock this term.

Luka Modric

One of the best midfielders of his generation Modric has kept his place in the Real Madrid team despite now being 38-years-old.

He won the Ballon d’Or in 2018 after leading Croatia to the World Cup final and is now an experienced head in a youthful Real side.

Toni Kroos

Just like Modric, Toni Kroos still holds firm as part of the set up in the Spanish capital.

Young players like Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni and Arda Guler are lucky to be able to shadow both Kroos and Modric.

Isco

Isco has a brief spell where it looked like his once promising career has come to a premature end.

The midfielder departed the Bernabeu in 2022 to join Sevilla, but left in the same season after making on 19 appearances.

Despite being a free agent nobody picked him up to sign him for over seven months before he was offered a lifeline by Real Betis this summer.

Now 31, Isco has made 17 appearances this season and is a regular feature in the Betis team.

Karim Benzema

Another Ballon d’Or winner, Benzema has had the most similar career path to Ronaldo of the players on the list.

The Frenchman spent 14 years at Real Madrid before jumping ship to Saudi Arabia to join Al-Ittihad and compete with Ronaldo for the league’s golden boot award.

Benzema is earning a reported £3.3MILLION PER WEEK in the Middle East and has scored nine goals in 14 appearances for his new side.
