Messi Applauds Darwin Nunez’s Brilliance and Explains How Players of His Quality Help Uruguay’s Counter-Attacking Prowess

In a recent interview, Lionel Messi spoke highly of Darwin Nunez and Uruguay.

On Friday, Uruguay overcame Argentina 2-0, ending their undefeated streak.

After Araujo put the game away, Darwin Nunez of Liverpool put the game away with a spectacular goal that beat Emi Martinez.

The legend gave the Uruguayan squad high marks for their counter-attacking prowess in an interview with TyC Sports.

He went on to say that it’s feasible because of great players like Darwin Nunez.

His words were:

“Uruguay are good at rebounding and playing in space on counter attack. They have excellent players for that like Darwin [Núñez]…”

Darwin Nunez has hit a ton of home runs this year, even though he has a poor hitting percentage.

He has contributed to four goals and four assists in eleven league outings for Liverpool.

In five games for his nation, he has scored three goals and set up two more.

He has scored 18 goals and added 18 assists in 22 games for both his club and country in all competitions.
