Manchester City are open to re-signing Leroy Sane next summer and will rival Liverpool in the race to sign the Bayern Munich winger.
Sane is a summer transfer target for the Premier League clubs with Liverpool understood to be considering the Germany international as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah, who has been linked with the Saudi Pro League and was subject of a £150m offer from Al-Ittihad last summer.
The 27-year-old has been in exceptional form for Bayern this season and has scored eight goals and provided six assists in 11 Bundesliga appearances.
Only teammate Harry Kane and Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy have been involved in more Bundesliga goals than Sane and BILD claim a Premier League battle for his services is set for the summer.
Manchester City are reportedly prepared to rival Liverpool to re-sign Sane, who won two Premier League titles and four domestic cups during four seasons at the Etihad between 2016 and 2020.
Sane was named as the PFA Young Player of the Year as City won the title with a record-breaking 100 points in 2017/18 and scored 39 goals in 135 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side.
City saw Riyad Mahrez and Cole Palmer depart last summer, leaving the Premier League champions short of natural right-sided forwards. Sane’s comfortability on either flank, or in a central role, will appeal to the Citizens.
Sane will have just 12 months remaining on his current contract at Bayern next summer, with a renewal having not materialised to date.
