Lionel Messi won his eighth Ballon d’Or, which Inter Miami celebrated with him. Paris Saint-Germain never bothered to recognize this accomplishment.
When Lionel Messi won the Ballon d’Or, the whole Inter Miami team celebrated in style. This is a big change from when he played for Paris Saint-Germain.
Messi posed with the team and some props in pictures that the club shared on social media to celebrate his win.
He broke the record by winning his eighth Ballon d’Or, making him the first player in MLS history to do so. When he won the prestigious French award, Messi said that his two-year stay at PSG did not end with the same sense of fun and friendship that he had in Miami.
Inter Miami was very happy when their star player got an individual award, but Messi has publicly criticized PSG for not recognizing his World Cup win with Argentina in December. “I was the only player of the [squad] that didn’t get a [club] recognition,” stated Messi. “It was understandable … because of us [Argentina], they didn’t retain the World Cup.”After winning this year’s award, he joked that he wasn’t going to give it out at Parc des Princes, PSG’s home stadium, because of his troubled relationship with the club.
He said, “I’m not sure if the people of Paris want me to give the Ballon d’Or to the Parc [des Princes].” Different things kept my time in Paris from going the way I had hoped.
“I had great friends in Paris where I lived for two years.” I have had a great time in the city. They had a great time, but it cost them a lot to leave Paris because they didn’t want to move yet and wanted to stay at school and with their friends, Messi said.
“I had the chance to live in this amazing city for a while.” Even though it didn’t go the way I had hoped in terms of sports, I remember all the good things that have happened to me. And there have been many.
Messi joined Inter Miami in July of last year and made an instant difference on the team. David Beckham’s first trophy as an owner came right after a big unveiling that was shown on Apple TV. The Argentine quickly helped the team win the 20203 Leagues Cup. It was also the first time Miami had played in the League Cup.He helped PSG win the 2023 French Super Cup while he was there. But the team didn’t do as well as it could have because Messi, Neymar Jr., and Kylian Mbape, three-word class attackers, played in the front line.
As Messi himself put it, leaving the club was met with “mixed emotions.” It was hard for him to get along with the French club because of problems with the fans and managers of the team. One example that stands out is when PSG punished the World Cup winner for going to Saudi Arabia “without permission.” This was part of his deal to promote tourism in the country.
