Journalist Fraser Fletcher has claimed that Chelsea have already put in plenty of ground work regarding the potential signing of Ivan Toney.
He took to Twitter to state that the Blues are hopeful that they can get a deal done for a fee of around £50m.
Toney is currently serving a ban from the game, with him not set to return to action for a few months still.
However, when he does he is expected to be on the move to a side a level above his current employers.
Chelsea are one of the sides who have been linked with the signing, with them seemingly not too pleased with their current output up top.
Nicolas Jackson has started every Premier League game so far this season, and has shown signs that he has some very useful attributes.
Chelsea have done Boehly groundwork
However, his ability in front of goal is something that has been questioned, with him missing a number of big attributes.
This is where Toney certainly stars, with him reaching the 20 goal mark in the Premier League last season.
Fletcher has now claimed that the Blues are one of the sides that have already put in a decent amount of work towards getting the signing done.
He said: “As previously reported, Chelsea have Toney on list for January as a potential option, have done early ground work.
“Arsenal are also interested and sounded out conditions for a deal. £50 million plus add ons likely to be the marker.”
Any side who does end up bringing in Toney already have another glowing review to go off, with him being praised greatly by Brentford manager Thomas Frank.
