Latest Nottingham Forest news from NottinghamshireLive as Reds will face Manchester City this weekend
Kyle Walker has warned Nottingham Forest about Manchester City team mate Jeremy Doku’s frightening pace.
Forest will head to the Etihad this Saturday to face the league leaders (3pm) on the back of a 1-1 draw with Burnley. Steve Cooper’s side will be looking to start building momentum as they sit just three points from sixth place.
But City are yet to be unbeaten this season after five wins on the bounce. And Walker believes City summer signing Doku will cause problems for the visitors.
The Belgian completed more dribbles than any player in the top five European leagues last season at Rennes. He also completed more take-ons than anyone bar Vinicius Junior and Lionel Messi.
Doku caused havoc at West Ham as Pep Guardiola’s team came away 3-1 winners after producing a comeback. However, Walker will not yet accept that Doku will beat him at long distances.
“I’m winning it!,” Walker said. “Over five yards he’ll do me, but you know after 50, 60 metres, I’ll catch him.
“I think you can see that in the last couple of games that he’s played, the pace is frightening. Over the first five or 10 yards as defenders, we have to try and anticipate what they’re going to do but we don’t know what they’re going to do.
“And when you’ve got that pace off the start of the starting block, it’s scary. I think he still needs to add more to his game, and I think he will do under this manager with the coaching that he does in the style of play that we play.
“But to have that coming off the bench and to start matches, it’s a full-back’s worst nightmare.”
