Aaron Ramsdale ‘not interested in leaving Arsenal’

During his opening two seasons at the Emirates Stadium, Ramsdale was generally a mainstay between the sticks, making a total of 78 appearances in all competitions.

With the England international having impressed under Mikel Arteta, the perception was that he would stay in the senior spot throughout 2023-24.

However, the Gunners surprisingly replaced recognised deputy Matt Turner with Brentford’s David Raya – a player who had his pick of clubs – in the summer.

Upon the completion of the deal, Arteta acknowledged that he wanted to create extra competition, claiming that it would prove beneficial rather than creating any uncertainty.

While Ramsdale started Arsenal’s opening four Premier League games of the season, conceding four times and keeping one clean sheet, he was dropped for the fixture at Everton on Sunday.

Raya subsequently kept a clean sheet on debut, and it is now unclear who will get the nod when Arsenal square off against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Arteta has refused to continually discuss the situation at press conferences, while Ramsdale allegedly has teams monitoring any further developments in the event that he wishes to leave North London.

Nevertheless, according to 90min, Ramsdale has no interest in leaving Arsenal for the foreseeable future.

The 25-year-old is said to be happy to fight for his place with Raya, who is expected to move to Arsenal on a permanent basis next summer providing that certain obligations are met.

Ramsdale’s representatives are also not holding any discussions with other teams, despite Chelsea and Bayern Munich believed to be open to trying to tempt Arsenal into a sale.

With Ramsdale possessing a contract until the end of 2025-26, none of the relevant parties need to be in any particular rush to make any decisions regarding the next phase of his career.

In total, the former Sheffield United man has made 83 outings for Arsenal in all competition, posting 30 shutouts in the process.
