Proud dad: Robert Downey Jr appeared on David Letterman’s Late Show on Thursday and could not help but gush about his little girl
First picture: The 50-year-old star shared a snap of his five-month-old daughter Avri, which is the first time fans have had a chance to lay eyes on her
Until now, the Iron Man star has kept the five-month-old to himself – and considering how adorable she is, who could blame him.
The big ππππ¦ reveal follows a tradition for the actor as he first showed off a snap of his three-year-old son Exton – who he shares with Susan – on the show too.
Robert also has a 21-year-old son Indio from his previous marriage toΒ Deborah Falconer.
Taking a break from talking about his new blockbuster Avengers: Age of Ultron, the star gushed about the newest addition to his family.
Introducing the little blue-eyed girl, he said: ‘I have three [π€π©πͺππ₯ren] a 21-year-old, Indio, a 3-year-old, Exton, and now Avri is a little over five months. I thought I’d show the first picture on planet earth here with you, kind sir.’
And Letterman approved remarking, ‘That’s sweet. She’s beautiful,’ when he saw the snap.
His little girl: Jokingly the star suggested it was his daughter’s bonnet that made the picture so cute
Sibling face off: The Iron Man star said his son Exton is trying to establish who is the boss and currently that involves biting
Iron Man replied: ‘The yellow bonnet helps. You gotta love a yellow bonnet.’
As for how she is getting on with Exton, Robert described the different simply: ‘Well, she’s female,’
And while Robert said there is not any rivalry between his two younger π€π©πͺππ₯ren – Exton seems to be not that pleased with the newest addition.
Big event: The actor happily dished details about his recent big ππ’π«ππ‘day bash to mark his half century, whose guests included Jennifer Aniston, Katie Holmes, Reese Witherspoon and Gwyneth Paltrow
‘It’s natural for Exton to want to bite her once in a while. It can start off as a little pet and then it turns into a nibble.
‘I think it’s just establishing dominance. She’ll be running stuff at some point.’
In a very good mood considering days earlier the star had walked out of an interview for being too personal, the actor happily dished details about his recent big ππ’π«ππ‘day bash to mark his half century.
‘It was kind of a big deal. I’m not going to do this many more times. I threw a big party for myself.
‘If I threw a big party for 51, it’d start getting a little indulgent.’
The event was attended by a Hollywood’s who is who including Jennifer Aniston, Katie Holmes, Reese Witherspoon andΒ Gwyneth Paltrow.
Guest and the star celebrated to the musical stylings of two of his favourite bands.
The star said: ‘I had two bands. I had Duran Duran play and then they opened for Steely Dan. I was stoked.
‘Steely Dan asked me to come on stage. He said, ”Listen, Come up and sing Reelin’ in the Years because we saw you sing that at a show once.”
‘He was like, ”Come up! Come on up!” And I forgot the words, because I was a little excited to be up on stage with Steely Dan.
While happily sharing on Thursday night as part of his promotional tour, it has not been an entirely smooth process – on Wednesday a video emerged of Robert storming out of an interview with the UKβs Channel 4 News after being asked personal questions about his former drug habit and jail time.
While he had started out comfortably chatting to interviewer Krishnan Guru-Murthy, when the reporter noted the actor like his character Tony Stark – a capitalist turned superhero – was becoming a better person having overcome his demons to inspire.
The trouble started when the news anchor asked the star to explain a comment in a five-year-old interview with the New York Times, in which he said: ‘You can’t go from a $2,000-a-night suite at La Mirage to a penitentiary and really understand it and come out a liberal.’
Boy’s club: The Avengers actor has a three-year old son Exton, seen here with the toddler’s grandfather Robert Downey Sr in January
First ππ¨π«π§: Robert’s oldest Indio, pictured 2011, is now 21. Sadly, the young man has followed in his father’s footsteps and was arrested last year for drug possession
Responding, the actor said: ‘I could pick that apart for two hours and be no closer to the truth than giving you some half-arsed answer right now. I couldn’t even tell you what a liberal is.’
But, when asked about his relationship with his father, Robert gets up and says: ‘I’m sorry, I really don’t… what are we doing?’ before walking out of the interview.
At that point he turns and says: ‘It’s all getting a bit Diane Sawyer [a U.S. journalist known for her investigative interviewing].’
Robert rarely talks about his long battle with drugs and alcohol which saw him arrested multiple times between 1996 and 2001.
Too close: On Wednesday a video emerged of Robert storming out of an interview with the UKβs Channel 4 News after being asked personal questions about his former drug habit and jail time
Since Robert has got clean he has mounted a massive career comeback, the crown jewel of which have been his massively successful role as egotistical billionaire superhero Tony Stark aka Iron Man.
Over the course of four movies, he has grossed nearly $4 billion in worldwide ticket sales.
The fifth movie featuring an ensemble cast of superheros including Iron Man, Avengers: Age of Ultron, promises to be yet another box office smash when it is released May 1.
