Speaking at a media appearance former Real Madrid footballers and club legends Luis Figo and Bernd Schuster have hailed the impact made by new signing Jude Bellingham.
The 20-year-old arrived at the club this past summer from Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth €103 million (plus add-ons) and has taken the league by storm.
Indeed, in just four La Liga outings, Bellingham has already scored five goals, proving to be a bonafide match-winner for Real Madrid on more than one occasion.
The England international has attracted praise from all quarters owing to his stunning start in Spain and Figo and Schuster have now joined in to hail the midfield wonderkid.
“He has started very strongly and has adapted very, very quickly to what Real Madrid is all about,” Figo said, as quoted by AS.
“Is Bellingham already one of the best players in the world? Yes, without a doubt,” he added. “Because of his talent and the commitment he is showing, even though he is so young.”
Following in Figo’s footsteps, another Real Madrid icon, Bernd Schuster, waxed lyrical over Bellingham, praising his leadership abilities, as he said:
“You can see he’s a guy who likes to carry the weight of the game. We had lost a lot of very good players in La Liga… but it seems that another one has landed with him.”
Schuster then backed Bellingham to score plenty of goals for the Merengues, saying: “I see him scoring between 15 and 20 goals, he has a great finish from the second line, a great header, his shot from outside the box….”
Another former Real Madrid player who sung praises of Bellingham is Mista, who said: “He is being the most decisive in the league and I have the impression that if he is not already the best in the world, it won’t be long before he appears there, his performance is spectacular.”
Former Real Madrid star Alfonso Perez also spoke highly of the midfielder, adding: “There is no better way to land at Madrid than the way he has done it, playing like this and scoring goals. Despite his youth, he has an enormous ability to solve problems.”
The kind of impact that Bellingham has made this early into his Real Madrid career is certainly unparalleled and it is only natural that he is garnering so much praise from current and former footballers.
