Harry Maguire‘s mother has fiercely defender her son and blasted the ‘disgraceful’ treatment of the Manchester United defender.
Maguire was mocked by Scotland fans even before he scored an own-goal in England’s 3-1 win at Hampden Park on Tuesday night, after coming on as a half-time substitute.
Gareth Southgate blamed it on the ‘ridiculous’ criticism Maguire, 30, has received from England and United fans — who have booed the player on occasions — and some sections of the media.
Maguire’s mother Zoe was at Hampden and yesterday wrote on social media: ‘It’s not acceptable what’s being created, over nothing.’
Maguire has remained an England regular even though he has dropped down the pecking order of centre backs at United since Erik ten Hag took over as manager last year.
Maguire shared the lengthy post to followers on her Instagram story on Thursday morning
