Manchester United star Anthony Martial left Carrington after just five minutes this morning, having arrived ahead of schedule for today’s training session, Manchester Evening News claim.
The Frenchman was spotted at the club’s training ground at 8.56am today, but he left the premises by 9am. That led to speculation over a possible injury, but this has now been dismissed.
M.E.N claim that the forward had arrived at the wrong time for training. The attacker was informed to return later in the day. The 27-year-old was back at Carrington at 12.23pm.
Martial sustained a hamstring injury in the final game of last season. As a result, he did not feature in the club’s pre-season and only returned for the new campaign.
The former Monaco man has made two starts against Nottingham Forest and Arsenal this term, but he was ineffective in both games before being substituted.
In our view, Rasmus Hojlund is likely to replace Martial in the starting XI against Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Dane had a lively debut off the bench against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium before the international break. He could now make his full home debut.
Meanwhile, Martial faces a make-or-break season at United. His current deal expires at the end of June next year, but the club have the option for another 12 months.
M.E.N claim that the Frenchman could be released next summer if his stagnation continues.
United have picked up six points from their opening four games of the season, and will be aiming to bounce back with a victory against Roberto De Zerbi’s side.
