Jude Bellingham is off to an impressive start in his first season with Real Madrid. The Englishman has scored five goals and registered one assist for the Spanish giants this 2023-24 campaign.
Bellingham is so far proving he’s worth the €103 million Los Blancos paid for this past summer transfer window. Nonetheless, some pundits are taking his early success to the next level.
El Chiringuito host Josep Pedrerol provided a bold take on Wednesday, stating that the best player in the world right now isn’t Kylian Mbappé or Erling Haaland. It’s Bellingham.
The opinion given by Pedrol feels more in the moment since no one was having this take while Bellingham was at Borussia Dortmund. Furthermore, the 20-year-old needs to have this success for a prolong period and have trophies under his belt.
While Bellingham is having a good start, calling him the best player currently is a bit of a stretch. Mbappé has a FIFA World Cup, and Haaland now has a UEFA Champions League trophy. Perhaps after a couple of seasons at Real Madrid, Bellingham can enter the conversation.
It will be interesting to see if Pedrol will have this same take if the Frenchman decides to join Real Madrid next summer.
