Chelsea star Christopher Nkunku has reportedly avoided a lengthy spell on the sidelines through injury after a scare in pre-season.
The 25-year-old was replaced during the Blues’ clash against Borussia Dormtmund this week, with it unclear as to whether he would be placed on the long-term injury list.
However, he has avoided this possibility but is likely to miss their opening game of the Premier League season against Liverpool, it has been reported.
The Evening Standard report that Nkunku will be out of action for ‘weeks rather than months’ after suffering a knee injury.
The report continues to state that the news ‘has been met with a sense of relief but remains a blow’ as he’s set to miss their Premier League opener.

Chelsea were already short of options in attack as Armando Broja recovers from a long-term injury and missed their pre-season tour of America.
Furthermore, Romelu Lukaku has been exiled from the first team training as he seeks a move to Juventus.
Nicolas Jackson has impressed when handed the opportunity in pre-season and will no doubt be in line for a start with Nkunku’s injury.
The pair were forming a relationship during Chelsea’s pre-season tour, but this has now been cut short as Nkunku is sidelined.
The Blues have been heavily linked with a move for Dusan Vlahovic this summer and could look to act to sign the 23-year-old to provide further competition in attack.
