Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has slammed his ex-club Barcelona over their attempts to lure Bernardo Silva to Catalonia this summer.
Silva was a key part of City’s treble-winning side, single-handily carving apart Real Madrid in last season’s Champions League semi-final. However, the Portuguese star has been heavily linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium this summer.
Barcelona appeared to be the frontrunner, but they are yet to lodge a bid for Silva. And Guardiola has now slammed his former side: “I don’t want any players who don’t want to be here. I want to work with guys who want to stay.
“But we need a proper offer, we didn’t… If they want him, they’ll get on a plane and speak to our sporting director…”
City are also desperately trying to hold onto Kyle Walker, with Guardiola’s side reportedly labelling a second contract offer to the full-back with growing interest from Bayern Munich.
They have also strengthened over the transfer window with Mateo Kovacic arriving from Chelsea and Josko Gvardiol looking all but complete from RB Leipzig.
Bernardo Silva was one of City’s standout players last season
City are back in action over the weekend when they face off with Arsenal in the Community Shield at Wembley.
The two sides were involved in a nip-and-tuck battle for the Premier League trophy last time out.

However, Arsenal were unable to overcome the unstoppable might of City – who strung together win after win to claim the Premier League. Guardiola’s side also swept up the FA Cup and Champions League in a near-faultless run-in.
