Brazilian Firmino shone in the 5-0 friendly win over Al-Shamal of Qatar, in a confrontation that saw the debut of Algerian Riyad Mahrez and Frenchman Alain Saint-Maximin, who also scored for the Saudi team.
The three players joined the ranks of Al-Ahli, who returned to the Saudi Professional Football League this summer. It was Mahrez and Saint-Maximin’s first match for the German team led by German Matthias Jaisse in the first meeting since his appointment on July 28.
Firmino, a former Liverpool player who joined Al Ahly on a free transfer early last month, opened the scoring in the 37th minute.
Six minutes into the second half, Saint-Maximin, who joined the team at the end of last month, scored his first goal in the club’s shirt, before the Brazilian added the third goal in the 6th minute.
Abdul Basit Hindi and Fahad Al-Rashidi scored a goal each in the 74th and 86th minutes.
Mahrez had joined Al Ahly for 4 years at the end of last month after a season in which he won the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Champions League with Manchester City.
